Halequin bus at a bus stop in Heatherton

Extend the Harlequin bus route into Highfields and increase its frequency

The Harlequin bus, going from Heatherton and Littleover Village to town and back, is the main bus service along Rykneld and Burton Roads. People wish it was as smart and often as The Mickleover buses.

Cllr Lucy Care said “Trent Barton would like to improve the Harlequin, adding another bus and running more often. It would then also go through Highfields Farm to gain more users. There should be money available from the Highfields developers to fund it at first. Releasing that money is slow. The decision may need to be taken by the Regional mayor.”

Extend the Harlequin bus service into Highfields and increase the frequency of the service

We call for Trent Barton, Derby City Council and the EMCCA Mayor to work together to increase the range and frequency of the Harlequin bus service. The Harlequin bus between Heatherton, Littleover Village and Derby is the main bus service for people living or working along this route. The not-so-new estate of Highfields next to Heatherton has no bus service, but funding was available from developers to support one to serve the area. The road has already got bus stops (but no service!). We call on the EMCCA Mayor and Derby City Council to agree funding to increase the frequency and range of the Harlequin bus service as soon as possible.
