Littleover Focus July 2023

Stop Press: A council consultation about more enforcement of 'moving traffic offences' has started. One of the first examples of this was the 'No Entry' at the bottom of South Avenue. We have successfully asked for the 'No right turn' into Chain Lane from Uttoxeter Road to be included in the new list of places for enforcement. See https://letstalk.derby.gov.uk/moving-traffic-enforcement-consultation-phase-2 This includes an online meeting at 11.30am on 31st August, to which there is a link at the bottom of the webpage given above.

Heatherton and Littleover July Focus newsletter has news and information from around the ward, including:

  • Could you help save someone's life? Having more defibrillators available around the community could help you do just that. Could you be part of the group that is helping make this happen? Please get in touch with one of the Focus team.
  • Tribute to Eric Ashburner's 12 years of service to our community. Eric was generous in giving his time and energy to the community in many different ways.

  • Cost of Labour's wild promises.

  • The bridge to Bunkers Hill at the end of Pritchett Drive has been damaged. The Focus team are trying to get it repaired.

  • Please trim back your hedges from paths and pavements to make space to pass.

  • The summer has been full of roadworks. Focus gives details of why these were needed: Kingsway roundabout; Pastures Hill; Burton Road; Shepherd Street; Old Hall Road; Chain Lane / Corden Avenue.

  • What would you like to see added to Heatherton shops? Please fill out the survey at www.derbylibdems.org.uk/HPbusiness to share your thoughts, or say if you'd like to start a business there.

  • Next Neighbourhood Forum will be at the Heatherton House Care Home (next to Aldi), 170 Rykneld Road DE23 4AL on 14th September from 7pm.

  • Sedgemoor Way play area is still looked after by Miller Homes. Getting Miller Homes to tidy it up and empty the bin now is a continuing challenge.

Things you may have missed from previous editions:

  • Do you think double yellow lines on the corner of Haven Baulk Lane and Rykneld Road would help visability? If so, please sign our petition
  • £2 bus fares extended until October. Then the price will rise to £2.50

  • Speed limit from Hollybrook Way to the city boundary is now 30mph and the Police are now enforcing this.
