Make new Harlequin buses electric ones
The Harlequin bus, going from Heatherton and Littleover Village to the city centre and back, is the main bus service along Rykneld and Burton Roads. People wish it were smarter and a more fuel efficient bus service.
Cllr Lucy Care said “Trent Barton would like to improve the Harlequin, adding another bus to the service and running more often. Making the bus an electric one would reduce the pollution, noise, and be more fuel efficient. The Regional Mayor could help fund the transition to electric buses as part of the East Midlands Transport Strategy.”

Introduce electric buses
Electric buses operate well in slow moving traffic and have the potential to improve air quality, reduce noise, and reduce energy use (be more fuel efficient). We call on the East Midlands Mayor through their transport strategy to provide funding to support the introduction of electric buses.
